Despite the fact that I’m posting this on Substack, and versions of it will inevitably end up on Facebook and Instagram, I don’t particularly like self-promotion. In fact, I really, really don’t care for social media. (While I’m being candid, I’m also a hypocrite, so please subscribe to any and all of my accounts.)
That being said, earlier this summer I received my first book review in an actual newspaper. A review that examined both the strengths and shortcomings of Midnight Miami. While I probably should have been plastering copies of it all over my neighbors’ car windows, I’ve decided instead to share it with you here.
Dan Reeves of the North State Journal described Midnight Miami as “loud, violent, knowingly ridiculous and often very funny,” which is pretty much what I was going for.
You can read the full review, “Werewolves, Wisecracks Collide in S. M. Chase’s Midnight Miami,” at the North State Journal. A big thank you to Dan and the team at the paper for devoting some of their space to my book.
Since we’re talking self-promotion, I’ll also be appearing soon on Personal Records, a music podcast hosted by my old Speackies pal Scott and his very handsome co-host (who may have monopolized his family’s supply of good looks). If you enjoy listening to two guys who can’t stop talking about their love of music, you’ll definitely enjoy Personal Records. Please subscribe today.
Finally, would you like to win a signed hardcover copy of Midnight Miami? I’m giving one away. Click here to find out how to enter and read all the lawyer words that apparently have to accompany a contest like this.
